Our Mission

Our mission is to provide our clients with individualized, compassionate, and expert care. We specialize in evaluations (testing), diagnosis, counseling/psychotherapy, and parent consultation for most childhood learning, behavioral, emotional and social challenges. Families turn to us for valuable information and support tailored to their child's needs. Our goal is to identify your child's strengths and areas needing growth, to develop a personalized plan.  We are here to provide your child with the most effective treatments and supports available. We also collaborate with pediatricians, schools, teachers, or other professionals to ensure your child receives coordinated care, based on your family's needs and preferences.

Specialized Care

Because we specialize in working with children, our clinicians have developed a higher level of expertise than counselors who "see everyone". Childhood is a complex time, and it is overly simplistic to think that someone who specializes in adult treatment or marriage therapy has the same depth of experience and knowledge as someone who specializes in that phase of life.

There are different kinds of counseling and some work better than others for specific concerns.  Clinicians who specialize in working with children are more likely to put the time and effort into mastering a wider range of targeted intervention skills. At KCPA, our clinicians are committed to utilizing intervention techniques that have been demonstrated by research studies to work, and can select the best approach based on your child's unique characteristics.  Although their response to treatment can vary, this approach increases the chance that your child actually benefits from our help.

We pride ourselves in being one of the few places that can offer end-to-end, wrap around non-medicine child mental health services, from start to finish, including testing/evaluations, individual and group counseling, behavior parent training, and academic planning support.  Because we do it all under one roof, we can ensure more cohesive communication between different clinicians who may be involved in your child's care.
